I have seen plenty of visual illusions - both static and moving - but I have never seen a rotating human figure as an optical illusion. Took a while to even convince myself it was not a joke.

I did work it out in the end (after a hint). The secret - at least for me - was to concentrate in the bottom-right corner on the feet shadows and force my eyes to track the outer foot’s shadow the way I wanted it to go.

  1. Wow, that’s amazing!

I’m a little sceptical about whether it works as a left brain - right brain test. I always test as very left brain and very logical but I could only see this figure going clockwise, which supposedly makes me right brain.

Mind you, it’s not just the test; I’m a little sceptical about the whole left brain - right brain theory.

I’ll have another look at it tomorrow and see if I can get it to go the other way. It’s late and I’ve had a few drinks - maybe that’s impairing my left brain function!

  2. Caitlin,

I am with you on the left-right test. I got exactly the same response as you - left brain dominance but clock-wise rotation of the figure initially.

Maybe it is the rest of junk that is on the same page. Apparently, visual illusions are often sensitive to the surrounding space.
